ADOPTION DAY!

It’s official Vivian Josephine Xinhua is OURS! Today was Adoption Day and today Vivi Jo legally became our daughter….and we are pleased as punch! Paul, Max and I woke up this morning and laid in bed, thinking that Vivi would soon join us but we were wrong, that girl is one deep sleeper….I mean DEEP! When it was time for her to wake up we were talking in regular voices and even turned some lights on and she still lays there snoring, enjoying her slumber. We are so thankful she is resting good. When she finally woke up I could see a little bit of confusion in her face so I quickly handed her the beloved Cheerio container that was beside her bed, last night she made sure it was within her reaching distance. Once she had that Cheerio container in her hand a sleepy smile came across her face. She doesn’t let that container get out of sight and she is very territorial with it. She keeps mainly raisins and Cheerios in it but at any time you might find a bracelet or clothing tag. I think for right now she really likes having food to nibble on whenever she might want something. We enjoyed the wonderful White Swan breakfast buffet, it is AMAZING! I love the atmosphere, the room is full of families and their new babies and children and there is so much joy and happiness and families are so proud of their new addition…I know because we are one of those elated couples that are absolutely beaming and smiling from ear to ear.

Then off to the Civil Affairs office to finalize the adoption. We were very concerned how Vivi would react because it was at the same room that we received her and she had such a hard time yesterday. She has terrible motion sickness but didn’t throw up on the way but was very green. We got there and she was very still and quiet, Baba (Paul) carried her in and held her the entire time. She never cried or got upset. When we left and were driving back to the hotel, Vivi got car sick threw up. We got back to the hotel and our guide ordered us Papa Johns pizza, it was really good, Vivi loved the pizza. We have not yet found any food she will not eat. She has now started eating normal amounts and is not gorging herself. Then we all laid down and rested and the kids fell asleep and both took at good long nap. When they woke up the kids played a while and then we changed them into warmer clothes because the nights are very cool and we walked down the road and met our guide and travel group for dinner. Our guide planned dinner within walking distance so Vivi wouldn’t get car sick, he is WONDERFUL, the best guide we have ever had! Our travel group is also wonderful there are 3 families now and will have 3 more join us next week. I’m looking forward to us all being together again. We were all together in Beijing and we had a great time, I can’t wait to see them with their new children. After dinner we walked around the island and checked out a few of the shops and then we came back to the hotel and I gave the kids a bubble bath and that is always the highlight of Vivi’s day, they both were giggling and at one point Vivi was laughing so hard that she couldn’t hardly catch her breath. It was a really great day, I see her trusting us more and more. She prefers her Baba (Paul) over he HANDS DOWN! Actually if Baba is around she doesn’t even want to have anything to do with me, that is really okay because it is important that she forms a strong bond and attaches to one of us and in time she will learn to trust me completely. It is working well because I can carry Max and he is content and Paul can carry Vivi Jo and she is content. I know you are probably thinking that she is to big to be carried around but in all the adoption education we have gone through it said that carrying your child instead of putting them in a stroller is very good for bonding and attachment…..and so, we carry! I can see her starting to attach to me, every day a little more, and a very strong attachment is forming with her Baba. We definitely feel your prays so please keep them coming. We really appreciate them so much! Your comments are a treasure to us. I sit there reading and I laugh and then I cry. We hold your comments and you close to our heart!

Love you all,
Paul, Kim Max and Vivi Jo

I added Gotcha Day photos to our Shutterfly and I will get today's photos up this afternoon when the kids are napping, sorry I am behind.
