Today was another Mama NO toucha me day! I am not at all
discouraged because I have seen times where she lets me in and
she has fun and I can see many times that she doesn’t want to
let herself have fun with me but she is…I think when we get home
things will start to change. I make sure I do interact with her
when I can but at the same time keep enough distance that it is
comfortable for her. The play kitchen was a good time of that
today. Laine, it really helped me look at things differently
when you shared that it is helpful not judge how things are
going by how the day went, because in adopted children their
days vary so much from day to day, but to look back and think
overall, was it a good week or a rough week? Laine said that it
freed her from dwelling on a bad day and she looked forward to a
better week in general. Looking back on this week, there has
been so much progress and I am so thankful! Thank you so much
Laine!
Yesterday we had the opportunity to go to Vivi’s orphanage. I
have always heard that it gives them closure. We were planning
on going but we felt very uneasy because of the hard time she is
having. The day before we were scheduled to go our friends,
Melinda and Darrell (Dr. Pierce) and their sweet family came by
our hotel to give us some Dramamine because Vivi has EXTREME
motion sickness. While we were visiting I mentioned that we were
planning to visit Vivi’s orphanage but we felt so uneasy.
Darrell told us that even though it can give children closure,
he felt at Vivi’s age she is old enough to understand some of
what is going on but not understand enough. He felt with what
Vivi has gone through and how it has affected her that it could
be harmful and he said that if she were his child that he would
NOT take her. Actually for him to say that was a great relief,
Paul and I just want to do what is best for her. We really
respect his personal and professional opinion. We feel like God
placed us in China with the Pierce’s at the same time not just
for Vivi and Shayle but to help us with this important decision.
A family in our travel group went to the orphanage and took her
son, she was so kind to take our gifts to the director and
nannies. She also took pictures of Vivi’s bed and photos around
the orphanage as well as her finding spot. She also ask a few
questions that helps explain why Vivi is having such a hard
time. Thank you so much Ellie, the photos and information you
got for us is priceless and we will treasure it forever! Vivi
lived in the orphanage until she was 3.5 years old and she was
very very close to her nanny/teacher, Miss Chen, when she was
put in the foster home she had a hard time because she loved
Miss Chen and Miss Chen loved Vivi very much too. Vivi then
lived in the foster home a little over a year and developed a
strong bond and loved her foster mom, then in August of this
year she was taken from her and put back in the orphanage, they
said that she had a hard time adjusting at first because she
loved her foster mother. When Vivi was brought back to the
orphanage in August, Miss Chen was again her nanny/ teacher and
although she had a hard time at first, the bond Vivi had with
her became very strong again. Then three months later she is
again not only ripped away from Miss Chen but from everything
she has and has ever known.
I love my precious girl so much! I just look at her and she
makes me smile. We are so blessed! When this little one loves
she loves deep and some day she and I are going to have a very
strong and special bond.
We love your comments and emails…keep them coming please, they
make us feel close to home. Kristi your comment about inventing
the “EYE” cracked me up….if you only knew how many times I have
said to Paul….I see Kristi in this girl! Oh Kristi she is
wonderful….full of Kristi spirit and spunk…get ready sister, she
is going to melt your heart!
We visited Yuexiu Park today and it was beautiful! Then we had a
delicious Chinese lunch…I don’t think I have ever eaten as much
as I have this trip…every time we turn around it is meal
time….and the Chinese eat BIG...many dishes at one meal.
Although it is delicious, I’m so ready for some good Tex Mex!!
Blessings to you all….please keep lifting us all in your
prayers….we are truly feeling them. God is so GOOD!
Love you all,
Paul, Kim Mr. Max and Miss Vivian Josephine
